Worming & Parasites

Every pet is susceptible to parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and whipworms. Unfortunately left untreated they can make a home inside your pet and rob them of vital nutrients, leading to poor appetite, loss of energy, serious anaemia, and sadly even death.

We recommend worming your pet every 3 months to prevent infestation. Worming is normally given as a tablet, but we recognise that it can be a struggle for many owners to administer a tablet so we can offer a single dose pipette of wormer which can be applied to the skin at the back of the neck. Please speak to our reception staff or any of our nurses for further advice on treatment.

External Parasites, including Flea Prevention

Often there is no outward sign of mild flea infestation on your pet (especially on cats) so unfortunately if you do notice a problem it is likely to be severe and it is best to seek professional advice for the right treatment and frequency.

Prevention of fleas and parasites is always the best option by using regular effective household and pet treatments. Vacuuming your house will pick many flea larvae that live in soft furnishings and carpets. There are also household treatments but please ensure you follow the instructions and NEVER use household treatments on your pets.
